Mindful Movement Belly Dance for All Bodies!

 Belly dance is an act of celebration designed for all bodies and abilities. In this trauma-informed workshop participants will be able to increase their movement capacity, by exploring basic belly dance techniques such as shimmies, isolations, undulations, traveling steps and poses. Belly dance is both a cultural art form as well as mindfulness tool that has been linked to benefits such as improve mood, cognition and stress reduction. Participants will get to experience belly dance not just as a recreational exercise, but one that has builds towards greater resiliency and mind-body integration.

 

Movement Notes:

This workshop is open to any level of experience. This is a moderate level of range in movement, including arm and leg extensions and floor-work involved as well as emphasis on cardio. This workshop is designed to be gentle enough for those with injuries or limited mobility. The instructor will provide as many adaptable dance options as possible.

 

What to Bring:

Reusable water-bottle. Bathrooms are available on the same floor, for to change into comfortable work-out clothes. Note shoes are not allowed in the studio.  Hip scarves will be available for use.
